Some are just addicts, plain and simple and nothing their spouse does will be enough.

I have been struggling with low self esteem in my relationship for over 10 years. I tried to end the relationship several times after 5 years as proposal was no where in sight and I began feeling resentful, hurt and betrayed by a man who said he fully intends to marry me and His response was “not to ruin things by making it an issue”. I felt that dragging me along like that was disrespectful and I began distencing myself emotionally, and I warned him early on that this could really cause some irreversible damage to the relationship…. He would get enraged and then break down in tears for me not to leave (he was going through a lot of hardship). The problem is that we are both insecure and have low self esteem. He has rage issuers, I have depression issues. And yes, it’s led me down a bit of a destructive path as a result of my gradual detachment. But we are both flawed and overall have a good relationship, we’ve grown up and changed over the years, I do care for him a lot. And he finally did propose, and I’m trying to find my way back home, in my heart… Can two people with different types of low self esteem, who have hurt each other several times, find the way back to each other’s hearts in harmony once and for all after? How?

I did not know about personality or other mental disorders at the time I wrote the material on this website. I do now, but it would take a whole other website to address the myriad and nuances of that topic.

Problem I find is that these articles apply more to those in a relationship with no other possible destructive attributes, such as one partner or both living with a Mental Health disorder. Low self-esteem for someone with Bipolar or BPD manifests in different ways. Ways in which where a lot in this article cannot apply.

He beats me verbally abuses me and has betrayed me with another woman, he’s growing slowly in himself but I’m having trauma issues being brought back to my mind which I saw a lot of violence in my home. I’m trying to find a way to get the best chance of being able to make the relationship between us work…ie communicating and generally speaking with him about stuff we had in common. I have to do this for me and my partner because I am in love with him and I believe that he is with me. I believe us to be worth it but if things don’t work out for the Best then I will have to do what’s best for me and him and let it go. I’m so glad i read this and I will be able to make sure that I have tried everything to do what I can do to have made our relationship between us better. I just told him that I have been trying to find a way of doing the work I think we need and his reply was …..your nuts but whatever you want to do then do it for it might help you.Thank-you Carolyn. PS if anyone who reads my reply and has some advice please e-mail me

In some cases, it can make very awkward sentences. I have corrected it in this article.

I could see my behaviors and behaviors of others that were less than fair and damaging. At the end the use of the masculine pronoun (especially when gender had not been referenced anywhere else which felt very inclusive) suddenly made me feel like this information, this article, was directed toward women. I am sure that was not the intent but I put it out there for the author’s and editor’s consideration.

Cheating is 110% disrespect and nothing more.

Extra simple. Don’t make excuses for scumbag cheaters! I was loving your article until excuse after excuse for cheaters.
